International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Shashank Manohar on Wednesday said that he had been closely monitoring the current developments in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Manohar, who is a former Indian cricket board president, said that a “powerful BCCI” based on solid governance foundations is great for the game.

The other members of this committee have been historian Ramchandra Guha, managing director and CEO of Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC) Vikram Limaye and former women’s cricket captain Diana Edulji.

“I’ve obviously been following developments in regard to the BCCI and the decision of the Indian Supreme Court and will continue to do so over the following weeks. India is a very important member of the ICC and contrary to some accounts, I feel a powerful BCCI based on solid governance foundations is good for cricket,” Manohar wrote in a column on ICC website.

“My vision is to make certain the sport has powerful governance, finance, corporate and cricketing constructions that encourage all of our members and decisions are chosen to the long term benefit of this sport from the greatest nation to the tiniest,” Manohar composed.

“We have had a working group in place for the last twelve months and it has been carrying out a comprehensive overview of those 2014 resolutions and constitutional changes.

“The group will present their findings in the ICC Board meeting this week and that I look forward to talking with my Board colleagues and considering the next steps,” he explained.

Manohar said that the ICC had been committed to promoting all 3 formats of the game and providing opportunities to countries to make their way towards the top. ()

“Another broadly discussed area of focus for our sport that we hope to create progress on in 2017 is about the arrangements of worldwide cricket. We have to ensure we protect and encourage three brilliant formats of this game that every possess context and meaning in relation to global events, together with an occasion pathway that is open to each member.”

“The rights to bilateral international cricket aren’t possessed by the ICC. These rights vest at the respective Boards.

“Thus it’s not for us to impose a structure onto those members. We need to work in partnership together, easing discussion about the future structure and providing the source to operate through and test ideas,” he said.
